Use a clean EPUB
KDP supports multiple manuscript formats, including EPUB. A professionally built EPUB gives publishers more control over structure and styling before Amazon’s conversion pipeline processes the book.
Preview after upload or conversion
A standards-valid EPUB should still be inspected in Kindle Previewer or the platform preview workflow. Conversion can expose spacing, image, navigation, or styling issues that are not obvious from source code alone.
Keep metadata aligned
The title, subtitle, contributor names, language, and edition information in the KDP listing should match the publication itself. Avoid preventable mismatches between cover, interior, EPUB metadata, and retailer record.
Do not rely on old MOBI workflows
Modern Kindle workflows support EPUB, and Amazon has continued moving away from legacy MOBI submission paths. Build around current KDP guidance rather than old tutorials.
